Evaluate Rule Quality Separately From P&L
The source's concept of an ideal trade separates correct process from financial outcome: a properly planned and executed trade can still end at its protective stop. Conversely, profit alone does not prove that the process was correct.
System rule
Post-trade analysis should therefore classify both OUTCOME and EXECUTION_QUALITY. Useful questions include whether the setup matched the scenario, whether entry was timely, whether the stop was respected, whether risk remained within limits and whether the configured exit rule was followed.
Aggregating these classifications exposes two different problems: a strategy whose rules have weak expectancy, and an implementation that fails to follow otherwise valid rules.
